Work in Progress
You’re looking at a work in progress
In no way, shape, or form do I think I’ve arrived
I’ve got flaws just like the rest of you
But to be a better person, is for what I strive
You’re looking at a work in progress
Today, I’m not who I was back then
And though I’ll continue to make mistakes
I will learn from each one of them
I know no one is perfect
We’ve all got hang-ups, vices, and fears
But shouldn’t we want to overcome them
and rise above when they start to appear?
I made a commitment a long time ago
a promise to myself, a solemn prayer to
not let my idiosyncrasies stop me
from becoming who I’m supposed to be
I want to be a work in progress
It suggests I’ve got more work to do
I’m half-molded clay, not fully formed
I’ve so many areas to improve
You’re looking at a work in progress
And after reading my words, though few
perhaps you’ll be inspired
to be a work in progress too
